Unfortunatley we didn’t get to stay in this lovely place. But we did enjoy The Cottage Plantation down the road from it. We found a plantation with the perfect place to sit back and enjoy life, and maybe write a few lines. St. Francisville has several of these old plantations built in the 1800’s. Azaleas were in bloom during April, 2008, and color was everywhere. Try it. Take your laptop and sit on the back porch of a spread with a good view of Spanish moss hanging from the oak trees.

Places I’ve been – or would like to visit!
Red River, New Mexico
Elevation, mountain range, ten thousand feet above
sea level, can you follow Goose Canyon Creek
to the Gold Hills above, and from there to Bunker Hill
the Black Mountains to the east, then Middle Fork,
and Frazier near Mirror Lake round Relica Peak?
Come hike high above the plains with me
One of my husband’s favorite haunts is Red River, New Mexico. I found it a wonderful, relaxing place to sit with your pen and pad. The Carson National Forest near Red River, New Mexico is gorgeous in the springtime and we camped and hiked for almost a week, exploring new creekbeds, flowers and beauty hidden in the isolated valleys.
Carthage, Texas
The famous East Texas pine trees
I’m still looking for the perfect place to sit and write. This is a cabin in Carthage, Texas. Bill’s pa is building it, even taking the lumber from the trees on his land and cutting them on his 100 year old saw mill. Did I say he was over 80 years old! The cabin sits on about 40 acres of beautiful pine tree covered property. That will work!
