My Thoughts

Cancer free for two years!

It has been two years since my last radiation or chemotherapy treatment! For two years now, I have been cancer free.

It hasn’t always been easy. I had some effects to deal with but that too, has subsided. Trying to eat healthy. And I am back up to my normal before-cancer weight! (I had hoped to keep off some excess fat but unfortunately, it came back too.)

My husband, Bill, read an internet article to me last night about aging, and how older people had done some amazing things. (Not that I’m old or anything!) What quote I remember most, is something like, I am the youngest today that I will ever be. Meaning, I will never be this young again, so I should make the most of it.

I recently realized that my life goal is not to live a long life, but to live a good life. One in which I can honor God and show his love to others, no matter how many days on this earth I live. Yes, there are still a lot of things I want to do, a lot of things I want to write, but God is in control of that. He will not take me to heaven until all my work is done. This verse helped me see that.

Do not be afraid or discouraged for the Lord, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished. I Chronicles 28:19-20

He promises that I will not leave this world until all my work has been accomplished. In the meantime, I have a lot of living to do! And a lot of people to share God’s love with! I am so thankful for the many people who supported me through the tough times. Mostly, I am grateful to God, my greatest encourager.

You are loved, Kathryn

I like this. I am thankful to God he answered all our prayers and you are healthy and well and able to continue to serve him.

Kathryn,
I remember some 2 years, or so, ago when I happened upon your page and I’ve been reading it since. I remember taking your cancer to the Lord and asking for my Bible Study Group (Sunday School for adults) to lift your situation up to God and asking for His ultimate will to be done… I am so happy to hear that He has kept you for at least this much longer and hope that it will be longer because it seems that you have a great deal to do for Him.

Thankfully, as well, he has chosen to keep me here this long as I seem to never get enough done for Him and, the way things are going, I think I will live forever as I can’t see the forest due to all of the trees in front of me.

God bless you continually,
